Three players join a table. The dealer gets 13 cards, the other two players get 12 each. The remaining cards form the draw pile face-down in the center of the table.
On your turn, draw the top card from the center pile or pick up the card discarded by the previous player. Then discard one card from your hand face-up to the discard pile.
Place valid card combinations face-up on the table. A set is three or four cards of the same rank. A run is three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. The more you meld, the lower your hand value.
You can play cards onto opponents' existing melds — called sapaw. This lets you get rid of high-value cards that don't fit your own combinations, reducing your remaining card count.
If you meld all your remaining cards, declare "Tongits!" and win the round immediately. This is the highest-value win — you collect the entire pot from both opponents.
When the draw pile runs out, players may call a challenge. Each player reveals their unmelded cards — the player with the lowest total card value wins. Aces are 1 point; face cards are 10 points.

Three cards of the same rank, any suits. Can be extended to four of a kind for a stronger meld that opponents cannot add onto.
Three or more consecutive cards of the exact same suit. Can be extended by adding the next card in sequence to either end.
All four suits of the same rank. When laid down, no opponent may sapaw onto it — a strategic play to lock out interference.
Level Up Your Game
Your opponents' discards tell you what melds they're building. If they keep throwing out 7s, they're probably not going for a run across that rank — adjust what you hold accordingly.
Laying down melds too early gives opponents a free sapaw target. Sometimes holding a pair a bit longer — until you can close out the game — is the smarter play.
Face cards are worth 10 points each in a draw. If you can't build a meld with your King or Jack, dump them early. Holding high-value dead cards is how most beginners lose at 311jili Tongits tables.
